Introduction and mission statement of the Greater Western Consortium

The Greater Western Consortium of Basic Physician Training is one of five consortia of basic physician training in Victoria, established by the Department of Human Services in 2005 to coordinate the training, recruitment and rotation of basic physician trainees across member health services.

The Greater Western Consortium of Basic Physician Training has five member health services: Melbourne Health, Western Health, Ballarat Health Service, Northeast Health Wangaratta and Wodonga Regional Health Service.

The objectives of the Greater Western Consortium are to improve, and make more equitable, the standard of basic physician training across all of its member health services - and for this to be reflected in the quality and adequacy of the basic physician trainee workforce in the Greater Western Consortium.
